Do I have to host my Web site on a Windows shared hosting account in order to use ColdFusion?
Yes. ColdFusion has proven to be more stable on Windows servers as opposed to Linux/Unix servers. There are known issues with ColdFusion and the Linux operating system and we feel that the most stable environment for ColdFusion hosting is a Windows server. How do I activate ColdFusion on my shared hosting account?
ColdFusion is very simple to activate. Simply log into your Windows shared hosting account via https://cp.cyerasolutions.com:8443 and click on Account, then Quick Access. Click on the Web Options icon and, when the next page loads, click on the OFF button next to "ColdFusion" to turn it on. Wait a few moments and the page will reload. You will see ColdFusion is now active. That's it!

How much does ColdFusion cost? Is there a setup fee? Are there plans that include ColdFusion by default?
ColdFusion costs only $8.00 per month to add to your plan. There is no setup fee and you can turn ColdFusion on and off at any time. All Windows plans come with the ability to turn ColdFusion on, but no plans come with it pre-activated. This is by design, in order to make it easy for all users to have access to ColdFusion should they decide they need it later. |
Do you allow the use of the <CFFILE> tag?
Yes, this tag is allowed. You would, of course, be restricted using the <CFFILE> tage to access only your own hosting directory. This protects all shared hosting customers from unauthorized access by others to their hosting directories. |
Do you allow scheduled tasks via the ColdFusion Administrator?
Yes, but because scheduled tasks are set up via the ColdFusion Administrator, you would need to create a support ticket online and supply us with the necessary information so we can create a scheduled task for you. We do, however, reserve the right determine when the scheduled task will be run so that your task does not cause any problems with any other currently running tasks at the same time, and vice versa.
To request that a scheduled task be created, please submit to us the following information:
1. Action
2. Task Name
3. Duration (Start Date/End Date)
4. Interval
5. URL
6. Username/Password (if necessary)
7. Save output to a file? (You are restricted to your own hosting directory.)
